History

The history of Sai Baba temple in Maichara is a story of inspiration, and boundless determination embodied by Late Shri. Jagadish Majumdar. An ardent devotee of Sai Baba, and a large proponent of Baba's teachings.

Jagadish Majumdar – founder of the temple, as a young boy had to brave challenging elements of life. He left his hometown of Tripura during his teenage years for the search of a better life, and wandered throughout India before finding himself a home in the city of Hyderabad.

As any other metro city, Hyderabad is home to many temples. Which even today lacks in Tripura. As devotion grew larger in Jagdish Majumdar's life - he realized he had the ability to spread hope, where he thought it lacked most.

Upon Jagadish Majumdar’s retirement from his job, he along with his wife Bandana Majumdar decided to move back to Tripura – to fulfil his dream of building a Sai Baba Temple; and mediate his teachings with people he associated most.

In this spiritual endeavor, the couple chose to leave behind material comforts, proximity to family, and access to better healthcare. The couple sold their forever home, and their business to fund building the temple.

After years of hard work Jagadish, and Bandana Majumdar inaugurated the Maichara Sai Baba temple, in 2017. The consecration ceremony lasted three days and was held by 6 pandits from Shirdi. After the inauguration of the temple, Jagadish Majumdar continued to take the utmost care of the temple and Sai Baba's devotees till his untimely passing in April of 2022.
